Nigerian biggest onion market in Photos

It’s no news that Kebbi state has one of the biggest onion markets in the country. This big onion market is located in Yauri local government area and it has employed so many youths with jobs.

In this market, you find over 1000 young men on daily basis involved in one activity or the other at the market. Some of these young men are engaged in separation of the good ones from the bad ones while others in charge of bagging the onions. Some sells the covers for the sacks, as well as those who vend the sack itself. Others are with the responsibility of loading the bags of onions onto the trailers.

The market is said to have been in existence since 1950 and is a kind of hub from which onions are now conveyed to various locations both within and outside country.

These Onions are gathered from farms around the locality where the crops are being collected and transported down to market through small vehicles like, trucks or cars. Canoes and large boats are used by communities that lacks road networks.
