The Nigerian Police Force, Bauchi State Command has announced the detention of one Muhammad Adamu Nafiu, 25, of Balanga, Gombe State, at Tama village in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
Garba Baba Umar, who is the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, on Wednesday, April 19, said the Boko Haram suspect is one of the notorious top commander of the terrorist group.
He alleged that the suspect relocated to Tama village so as to evade arrest following the dislodgement of the extremist by Troops from Sambisa Forest.
He said: ”Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect was among those declared by the Nigerian Army on Serial Number 176 on its wanted list.
”He has voluntarily confessed to have killed over 150 people in Baga LGA of Borno State alone.
”Case under investigation after which suspect would be handed over to the appropriate authority for discreet investigation."
Another arrest paraded by the Police was one Osama Abubakar, 20, of Malam Goje Street, Bauchi. He said to have used a sharp knife to cut off the left hand of another person, allegedly to be a member of Sara-Suka, Abdul-aziz Mohd, 23 of Gombe Road in Bauchi.
According to the NPF, the xxhibits retrieved from the suspect includes 2 sharp knives used for perpetrating the evil act.
CP Umar added: ”Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect is a notorious Sara-Suka thug who was convicted for similar offence in 2016.
”Suspect voluntarily confessed and is assisting the police with useful information that will assist in apprehending his accomplices.”
