President Buhari |
The office of the president has debunk a report by an online media outfit, Sahara Reporters on Sunday, April 30, over the President Muhammadu's health status, claiming he is so sick that he cannot easily eat or drink.
The online media outfit reported that three different sources within the presidency confirmed the alleged deterioration of Buhari's health.
However, in reaction to this report, the personal assistance to President Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmad claimed the report was completely false.
Ahmad tried to clear the air late on Sunday, April 30 following the report which asserted that the President’s health had seriously deteriorated in the last few weeks.
He used his Facebook account to refute the claim by writing: "I have received many calls and text messages this evening, asking me whether the story published on Sahara Reporters about President Muhammadu Buhari's health status is true or not.
"The story like so many of its kind is untrue, as Garba Shehu said last week Thursday, there is no need for apprehension over President Buhari's health.
"We pray that God continues to see Mr. President through this period of recuperation."
It was also reported that the Buhari’s British doctors who had allegedly sent a medical team to the Presidential Villa to attend to him urged that he should be sent back to the United Kingdom to immediately start treatment in order to elongate his life.
But cabals within the Presidency had allegedly frustrated the president's return to UK on two occasions including the one cheduled for April 15.
According to Sahara Reporters, the advance teams were sent by the presidency to London on those two occassions to await President Buhari's arrival but the wait was in vain.
The online media reporter allegedly quoted a close source to the president and who had a good knowledge of current state of health.
"They feel that if he [President Buhari] travels abroad, they will lose the power and influence they wield when he is town," said the source.
Recall that Tellforceblog had earlier reported that Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture said that the president needs rest and would as well work from home.
However, seeing that his submission had raise alot of concerns and speculations among Nigerians, the minister denied saying such.
The minister said he “never said that President Muhammadu Buhari is to work from home henceforth”.
On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, Lai said in a statement issued after the Federal Execution Council (FEC) in Abuja, while briefing the newsmen, that he President is to work from home henceforth was not true.
The statement signed by the Minister's Special Adviser Segun Adeyemi, said: “the President only decided to work from home today, not that he has decided to work from home henceforth”.
