The controversial Nigerian lawyer Festus Keyamo, has made mockery of Yakubu Dogara’s public show of his ₦300,000-per-month payslip by tweeting the below comment. He is of the opinion that the house of reps members are performing a comedy show for Nigerians to watch.

 Keyamo wrote the below on his twitter handle:

“The latest comedy showing at cinemas is some guys showing their 300k-a-month salary pay slips, but spent billions to get the job! Tickets available.”



Dogara revealed this after Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, dared the members of the National Assembly to share the reports of their budget as proof that they were undeniably in support of the anti-graft war led by the current government.


In reaction to thisFestus Keyamo, however of the opinion that they are acting out a comedy for Nigerians to watch.

The Suspended representative, Abdulmumin Jibrin has raised suspicions over the genuineness of the payslips released by his boss Yakubu Dogara, who is the current Speaker of the House of Representatives.


In series of tweets released on his Twitter handle, Jibrin said the figures released as the speaker’s monthly pay were far below his own monthly as a floor member of the house of reps.

Speaking on the National Assembly budget, he said: "As regard NASS budget, I completely agree with paragraph 9, 10 and 11 but will raise issues on paragraph 5, 6.

"The statement failed to address the call by Nigerians and majority of members for Mr Speaker to disclose details of our internal budget.

"Beside salaries, allowances and running cost , no member has details of about 20 other expenditure heads captured in Namdas statement.

"I am aware majority of members feel terribly embarrassed and are presently insisting on having access to the internal budget of the House.

"The details of INEC budget does not just "exist else where".

"Mr Speaker, you know that NILS HQ is not completely funded from NASS allocation but part funded by FG under service wide vote.

"If Mr Speaker is saying ' budget disclosure' commences 2017,Nigerians will never see details of how a trillion was spent in last 10 years?

"It’s no favour to Nigerians disclosing details of budget. In fact, it is a criminal offense to refuse even members copy of their budget.

"I have so much comments to make on 2017 budget which I will release before the budget is transmitted to Mr President, God grace."

Recall that Tellforceblog earlier reported that the Speaker released his payslip to the public, in order to encourage the spirit of transparency among public officers.



The documents released by Dogara showed the breakdown of his salary for October, November, December 2016 and January, February, March 2017.

Yakubu Dogara had on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 released his pay slips to the media for last six months, via his spokesman, Turaki Hissan.

The documents revealed the analysis of the Dogara’s salary for October, November, December 2016 and January, February and March 2017.

Based on the details in the document, Dogara gets about ₦300, 000 with exclusion of taxes, according to The Cable.

Recall that the speaker on Friday April 7, in reaction to calls by the Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai revealed, that the leadership of the National Assembly had instructed the bureaucracy and all other agencies under the legislative arms to make public the details of their annual financial statement starting from 2017 budget which is still under deliberation in the assembly.


Also, Dogara had asked the governor, who he said is “known for his consistent advocacy for openness in the budget of the National Assembly”, to, in the spirit of good governance, transparency and accountability spread his crusade to other arms and tiers of government in local or state level.

Yakubu Dogara
Again, President Muhammadu Buhari has called Nigeria to speak with country’s number four citizen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara.

Yesterday, President Buhari’s only surviving elder sister claimed she has always be in touch with her brother. Yesternight, Sen. President, Dr. Bukola Saraki also tweeted about his own encounter with the President.

Also, the elder sister of the president, Hajiya Rakiya, said she "speaks with Muhammadu regularly since he travelled to London". According
to Saraki, the president was in high spirits.

Just few hour this afternoon, February 9, the country’s number four citizen, the Speaker of the House 
of Representatives Yakubu Dogara. Dogara confirmed this in a tweet, noting that President Buhari had some concerns about food security for the country.

He said: “@MBuhari called me yesterday evening. He talked about what the Executive/ Legislature must do to ensure food security for all Nigerians”.
