Nokia has never stopped setting pace in the world of telecommunication. It has just partnered with Orange Group on introduction of 5G services. This was announced on 30thJanuary, 2017.
The 5G network is of course expected to bring noteworthy improvements over data speeds, network latency and agility, along with the ability to enable new experiences. It will enable operators
to support the ever growing number of consumers and billions of IoT devices with different services that includes smarter cities, connected vehicles, smart factories and offices, remote healthcare and other related industries.Nokia and Orange will work on bringing these new services to reality according to signed agreement between them. They would work with other interested related associates for the development and launch of applications based on 5G network.
Aside that, Nokia and Orange will take advantage of the Nokia Flexi Base Station and 5G-ready AirScale radio access portfolio, the AirFrame data centre platform, telco cloud and cybersecurity technologies to fashion out applications making use of the 5G network connectivity.
This effort would embrace application like ultra-broadband leveraging new frequency bands, cloud RAN and massive MIMO, IoT, end-to-end network slicing techniques and energy efficiency techniques.
The chief innovation and operating officer at Nokia, Marc Rouanne, in a statement said,
“Through this collaboration, we will test 5G applications for different industry segments and measure the benefits of extremely short latency and very high speeds. We are also delighted to be applying our world-class R&D expertise in Paris and Lannion in this project.”
We in Nigeria are yet to even have enough of 3G services, 4G is just for some selected areas even in big cities. NOW THEY ARE TALKING OF 5G NETWORK. We will definitely get there.
